   Hello all,

I just updated my gentoo (64 bits) and all worked fine except libsdl
   installation.

libsdl seems installed (I can see files installd by the package, sdl-config
runs fine, /usr/local/pkgconfig/sdl.pc is ok ...) but when I try to install
sdl-sound (or any sdl-xxx package depending on SDL), I got this error
   message :

   **************************************************************************

checking for SDL - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** Could not run SDL test program, checking why...
*** The test program compiled, but did not run. This usually means
*** that the run-time linker is not finding SDL or finding the wrong
*** version of SDL. If it is not finding SDL, you'll need to set your
*** LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or edit /etc/ld.so.conf to point
*** to the installed location  Also, make sure you have run ldconfig if that
*** is required on your system
   ***
*** If you have an old version installed, it is best to remove it, although
*** you may also be able to get things to work by modifying LD_LIBRARY_PATH

I tried many tricks and tips to pass through this problem without success :
   - /etc/ld.so.conf verified  = Ok
   - Tryied LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib64 and LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib32
   - Tryed PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib64/pkgconfig and
   PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib32/pkgconfig
   - Tryed to modify sdl-version in /usr/lib64/pkgconfig/sdl.pc (desesperate
   attempt !!!)
   - ln -s /usr/lib64/pkgconfig /usr/lib/pkgconfig
   - ln -s /usr/lib32/pkgconfig /usr/lib/pkgconfig
   - Uninstalled libsdl and emul-linux-x86-sdl and reinstalled them.
   - Read the log but there is nothing more in it.
   - Launched revdep-rebuild

I just noticed that *NO* /usr/lib/pkgconfig exists only
   exist /usr/lib32/pkgconfig and /usr/lib64/pkgconfig.
   I Don't know if it's normal.

I also noticed that any application that need libsdl *only* work fine as a
   proof of libsdl successfull installation.

My knowledge do not permit me to get out of this dead-end.

I surely missed to verify something or missed to do something but can't see
   it.

My update process is stopped by this so my system is in a partially stable
state (some services do not work), so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for advices and clues.

   (Sorry for my bad english)
