   The problem apparently is in this case that ufed showed it as   
   unselected (because if something was selected e.g. in your profile,   
   and you unselect it with ufed, then ufed *will* insert a negative   
   useflag unless you select -*)   
   Of course, I can now only guess why ufed does not recognize this   
   flag as "selected". It could simply be some bug of ufed, or it could   
   be that you are actually getting this useflag from some overlay   
   which uses perhaps a non-standard syntax which portage accepts anyway   
   but ufed does not, or it might perhaps be a package-specific issue:   
   IIRC there was a discussion not so long ago about per-package use.force   
   variables which meanwhile perhaps is now included in portage   
   (the way useflags are handled was changed so often in the previous   
   months that I decided to not keep track anymore of the frequent changes.   
   This is also one of the reasons why eix does not handle useflags).
