From: a@b.c              Hello,               From time to time I don't get some USB hard drives up and running on my       Gentoo box but they do happen to work fine on a Windows box so I'm a bit       curious why.              dmesg just gives me this info:              usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       usb 1-4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice       scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices       usb-storage: device found at 3       usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning       usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       usb 1-4: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3       scsi 2:0:0:0: scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery       usb-storage: device scan complete              So it seems it being reset but why and by what. And what could I try to       avoid this in the future?              These are my kernel configuration parameters:              CONFIG_USB_HID=y       CONFIG_USB_HIDDEV=y       CONFIG_USB_ARCH_HAS_HCD=y       CONFIG_USB_ARCH_HAS_OHCI=y       CONFIG_USB_ARCH_HAS_EHCI=y       CONFIG_USB=y       CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y       CONFIG_USB_EHCI_HCD=y       CONFIG_USB_UHCI_HCD=y       CONFIG_USB_PRINTER=y       CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=y       CONFIG_USB_MON=y              Thanks,              Wimmy       --        From time to time you have to act crazy in order not to become it...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
