   No, still all the same, posting into other newsgroups didn't even give   
   a single hint, either. If I only knew which files contain info for the   
   panels I could try to restart over, but I don't want to completely   
   start my whole GNOME config again, so I didn't even try to remove stuff...

   I didn't find the Bugzilla entries that you are referring to, but yes,   
   it seems gnome-panel is quite buggy. If I wouldn't need to install   
   hundreds of MB of otherwise unused libraries I would long have changed   
   to KDE...
