   Yes, it's a quite misleading error message, but still quite right, features   
   that can't be used over network like opengl will be lost for the session and   
   be a thing "not found".

   No, sadly not.   
   One thing you could experiment with would be to have two configuration   
   directories, for example ~/.kde3.5 and ~/.kde3.5remote, and see to symlink   
   ~/.kde to the right one depending on the connection (this will require some   
   tweaking on the kde scripts).   
      
   Another option would be using XiG instead of Xorg, that way you would get all   
   the needed features (but not sure if XiG has composite module or not) over the   
   network too.
