   You *must* learn how to apply patches if you want to use gcc-4.3 now,   
   since even 30 packages which currently do not compile are a lot...   
   The standard way for patching is to copy the ebuild (including the   
   files/ subdirectory) to some overlay, add the patch command to the   
   ebuild and then to redigest using "ebuild [path to your ebuild] manifest".   
   But this is certainly documented in more detail on gentoo-wiki or   
   some other FAQ place.
