   Gentoo used to use the "users" group, but at some point an upgrade of pam or   
   shadow, can't remember exactly, broke that rule, as discussed in the thread   
   I linked. It's still possible, of course, and imho advisable, to restore   
   the "normal" behaviour.

   I don't think so. Actually, if memory serves, I think it was written from   
   scratch, in Python.

   Again, I seem to remember some document explaining how to install using the   
   graphical installer, but I might very well just have dreamed it.
