   I made some progress today.  I noticed a new use flag for nfs-utils: nonfsv4.   
   I never had any luck with nfs4.  I rebuilt nfs-utils with -nonfsv4.   
   I also had to modify the /etc/fstab on the diskless system to explicitly mount   
   as nfs3.  "nfs" used to equal nfs3.  It seems that it now equals nfs4.   
   I also discovered that I can no longer specify rsize or wsize if I want   
   the root to mount readwrite.
