   No the kernel headers must match the ones that glibc was compiled with.   
      
   The kernel headers are for the apps compiled on the box only.  When you   
   untar the kernel source are not the headers there as well?   
      
   I never update kernel headers in /usr/include unless I recompile glibc and   
   every app (including the kernel) on the box.   
      
   I do compile and use the latest kernel though. Just don't install the   
   headers.
