   Again: you told portage to update.  "Update" means to update your   
   system.  Portage is the package manager.  The kernel sources is a   
   package.  That means the kernel sources will be updated too.  This is   
   correct behavior and there is no problem.  Gentoo is not going crazy.   
   It works nicely.  You just have to actually try and learn how the   
   package manager works.

   Look up the USE flag docs.  There are tools even to look them up.

   What does this have to do with your "issue" about gentoo-sources being   
   updated?
