I have it running on two PS3s.

I usually have the website how-to up on my PC while I install Linux of
   whatever flavor on the PS3.

I have one PS3 with four distros on it, and the other has two.
   Currently Gentoo and YellowDog.

The Gentoo how-to had a couple flaws (no 'links2' applet). Nothing
serious. I wish their current release carried PS3 specific support, but
I was unable to 'install' from the dvd iso. This means that there is
currently only one install image working that I know of from a year or so
   ago.

You boot the LiveCD with xfce for the PS3, and follow the install steps
here to complete the install. It outlines command line disk partitioning
instructions from cli, but I have escaped to console 1 and set the root
password with 'passwd root', exit back to the login screen, and logged in
as root, then used gparted, the graphical partitioner. I made may 10GB
into two different distro segments, so I made a 4GB / partition (ps3da1)
for Gentoo, and a 2GB swap (ps3da2), both primary partitions. I left the
remaining space alone. I formatted both. One as ext3 and the other as
Linux swap, of course. Then, I exited x back to the login screen, and
then went back to the console I had earlier.
