Sometimes it happens, that some stuff will work       only if it's a module. Time ago I wasn't able to get ALSA running if       compiled in the kernel. Same thing for 3c59x Vortex driver. I don't       know, how it would be now, maybe it works since long, I didn't bother       to try as I don't care if the stuff is compiled in or a module. But       what happens in those two examples can happen with something else.       Sure, the problem might have been between the chair and the keyboard.       But even if it's so, you are stuck with a modular kernel.              >       > It is very easy.
