I've been using KDE 4 since the 4.0 betas       on this machine, and am finding that 4.2.1 is pretty decent. Still awaiting       k3b's port to KDE4, but the new kmail is, IMO, much nicer, as is ktorrent,       and even konqueror. Not a big fan of gwenview over kuickshow, myself, but       that might just be me.              I don't currently use koffice, though will give it another shot when the KDE4       version comes out. OpenOffice.org works fine enough ;-)              Compositing is nice - though using the open-source ATI drivers has prevented       me from actually getting them to work (the catalyst drivers from ATI worked       fine for this, but would hang the machine when I logged out - which is bad       when I'm constantly upgrading KDE, especially when I was using the snapshot       builds for 4.2).              So, for the most part, the answer would be "yes." Just enable the kdeprefix       USE flag, and try it. You'll still have 3.5 installed and can always go back       -)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
