From: aragorn@chatfactory.invalid              For weeks already now - if not months - I am regularly seeing new       posts/threads - multiple per day - which are all repeats of older       posts. It pertains to a conversation between "AZ Nomad"       and "someone@gmail.com" in a thread called "Re: Need help deciphering       emerge errors".              The only new thing about the new posts is that previous (limited)       headers are included in the message body. The quoted text and the       reply are the same. All posts simply have a number of "To" and "From"       headers in the message body, and the number of these increases with       every new post. The last post to show up like this from "AZ Nomad"       shows 244 lines, most of which are those headers and blank spacer       lines.              Also included in the message body is something that looks like this:              -+- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag        + Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38)       -+- Synchronet 3.15a-Win32 NewsLink 1.92        * Time Warp of the Future BBS - Cougar, Washington -       telnet://time.synchro.net              ... but repeated like a dozen times.              This started when a number of strange posts started to appear in what       appears to be Arabic, posted by someone who is obviously using       Windows - there's a reference to a Windows codepage in his e-mail       address. Several of these posts always show up together with the       repeated conversation between the other two posters mentioned. The       posts in Arab script also have such repeated headers and that       repeated "BBBS/LiI" thing in them.              I don't know whether it's some goof-up at Eternal September - my news       service - but I imagine that they would have noticed this themselves by       now if it were. So what exactly are we dealing with here? Is anyone       else seeing this too?              --       *Aragorn*       (registered GNU/Linux user #223157)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
