|    USB problem with Slackware 15.0    |
|    06 May 22 07:36:00    |
From: NoEMail@home.org              I've never had as many problems with a new distribution as       with 15.0 I hope there was a good reason to have so many       configuration changes. ssh doesn't work the same as it did.       Console display defaults to UTF-8, yada yada...              I don't seem to be able to get a USB storage device       recognized. After building gpsbabel I get:       Failed to claim interface 0: Device or resource busy       error. Searching for a solution this is supposed to work:              echo -n "1-1:1.0" > /sys/bus/usb/drivers/usb-storage/unbind              but this results in:              -bash: echo: write error: No such device              I'm not even sure what the echo is supposed to do, but       it doesn't fix the problem. Same problem for a standard       USB drive.              Anybody have a solution?              Is there some documentation of what changes from 14.2       were necessary and the best workaroung.              I got rsync to work by:              alias rsync="/usr/bin/rsync --protcol=3.1.3"              Without this it seems to regard separate drives on the       same system as being remote requiring ssh comunication.       That's my guess because it screws around with the       known_hosts file.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
