   Or edit /etc/grub.d/10_linux first. Search for the first line with word   
   'vmlinuz'. It's this:   
      
           for i in /boot/vmlinuz-* /vmlinuz-* /boot/kernel-* ; do   
      
   Change it to:   
      
           for i in /boot/vmlinuz ; do   
      
   After that change grub-mkconfig won't create versioned kernel entries.
