   No, for me syslinux 6 has worked fine to boot UEFI systems. However, I   
   might have cheated a bit... If I remember right I did not compile   
   syslinux 6 myself on Slackware, instead I simply copied those precompiled   
   binary files needed to boot with UEFI and extlinux from some other Linux   
   distribution.
