   Yes, I mentioned in passing that grub2 identifies which partition to   
   boot by its uuid. The partition number is just a hint. You can not have   
   two partitions with the same uuid, like it or not. Havoc issues.   
      
   And then you need to tell grub 2 to regenerate the config files.
