   Thank you - you got it.  They were mixed between Packman and "not Packman".   
   I applied the last two steps on the http://opensuse-guide.org/codecs.php page   
   and tried again.  No change.   
   Rebooted (it took less time than any other approach) and tried again.  Both   
   kaffeine and dragon are now behaving the way I want them to.
