   Well, it should be static or fixed. You can tell the DHCP server   
   (probably on the router) to give always the same address to the printer,   
   or configure it on the printer.

   I have never bothered to find out why, but it is probably because the   
   firewall blocks the broadcasts. So it should be a question of finding   
   what port and opening it. And of course, something should be listening   
   for it, which at this moment I don't know what would be. I have never   
   configured a printer on a dynamic IP.   
      
   There was a module for "plug and play" a printer, but I removed it and I   
   don't remember the name. It probably was for USB printing, though. I see   
   bluez-cups for bluetooth printers, and cups-airprint for Apple printers.
