   Yes, in Linux you have to be careful about what you buy.   
      
   I have an Nvidia geforce myself. A "G96 [GeForce 9500 GT]", which I   
   suppose is now obsolete. I use the proprietary Nvidia driver installed   
   the easy way, that is, via rpm from official repo. No issues. It also   
   works with the open driver, but less well.   
      
   On my laptop I use Intel video only. I do not want speed, but battery life.
