   Yes, always check.   
      
   Generally, it is better if whatever driver is supported by opensource   
   drivers, even if closed ones from the manufacturer do exist. Why?   
   Because then you have chances of having support for many years, decades   
   perhaps. Manufacturer neglect to update their drivers for new versions   
   of the operating system after some time.   
      
   Hardware that pass this test are also better in Windows. Example:   
   winprinters vs normal printers. The former do not have a full capable   
   processor on the printer.

   Funny. I prefer a desktop machine anytime.   
      
   I use the desktop preferably, the laptop when on the move or in the
