That login screen means       you're using XDM instead of KDM or GDM/LDM etc. Seems not all the       required packages were installed. That might also explain some of the       other problems you're experiencing.              When you install openSUSE, it defaults to XDM as a login manager if you       haven't chosen one of the other desktops.
