   Thanks but it did not work,the laptop booted into emergency repair mode   
   so I reverted back and the installed some updates which trashed the   
   tumbleweed desktop.   
      
   So now in a bad mood I  reinstalled 42.3 and restored via nfs my   
   previous install. Nfs works just fine and I have abandoned my idea of   
   using tumbleweed for now until I buy a new server,but as the old one is   
   working well that might be a while yet.
