|    Leap 42.3 on Proliant DL380 G5    |

From: jan.schmidt@gmx.de              Hi all,              I got a cheep Proliant DL380 G5 and want to install              openSUSE-Leap-42.3-DVD-x86_64.iso              In principle it worked. But after the installation the system does not       boot. And the installation needed some hand work:              - without selecting kernel safe settings the kernel hangs       - the raid controller is not detected automatically. So I needed to add       the controller in a shell:              modprobe cciss cciss_allow_hpsa=1       modprobe hpsa hpsa_allow_any=1              After that I could do a normal install. parted had problems with the       swap disk and reported an error. But I don't want to use swap, so it was       not required to do anything.              And I got an error after (or during) the installation of the bootloader       from yast (I did not note it, but it referenced to ruby debugger). I       fount out, that someone could install centos at this machine, so in       principle grub and the other tools should work.              And like expected the system does not boot. So, here my questions:              - How can I give the required modules (and its parameters) to the       installation program?       - Are the modules and options transferred to grub and initrd or do I       need to do something for that?       - How do I need to install grub?              If nothing helps, I could also use a USB stick as boot medium. Is there       any automatic way to created one from an installed system before the       first boot?              Thanks,       Jan              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
