   Agreed. Personally, I like to install the latest drivers by hand so my   
   method on a new installation would be as follows:   
      
   [download GT1030 driver 440.82 from   
   https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/driverResults.aspx/159370/en-uk]   
      
   cd /etc/modprobe.d/   
   vi nvidia.conf [contents 'blacklist nouveau']   
   mkinitrd   
      
   [reboot to command line only]   
      
   cd [driver directory]   
   chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-440.82.run   
   ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-440.82.run   
      
   [follow prompts]   
      
   mkinitrd
