|    Setting up SAMBA in Tumbleweed    |
|    17 Jun 20 23:17:24    |
From: prschmi@Zfrontier.com              I watched a lot of YouTube videos on this and still have one problem.       I am missing a little something. Maybe someone can suggest. This is       a simple Home network.       1. I renamed the Tumbleweed computer HOST from 'localhost' to 'suse15'       (Used 'hostnamectl')       2. I set up Samba Server using the GUI. (a) Workgroup, (b) Start on       Reboot, (c) Open firewall port, (d) In SHARES, Allow users to share       directories. [No Guests] I left the rest original. (e) Added my       smbpasswd to coincide with Win user and password              I am working with a windows 7 as the second computer.       1. On viewing 'Network' I only see the Win7 box.       2. If I enter '//suse15' on the input line, the Tumbleweed Box       dirrectories appear and I have access to tumbleweed box        Also in the sidebar under Network, I now have 'Win7' and 'suse15'       listed, BUT no image in larger window       3. If I close the network window and reopen, I have to repeat step 2       (entering the computer name) to get at the Tumbleweed box.              Somehow Win7 is not finding the Tumbleweed box w/o me naming it.       I am missing something, but WHAT?? A 'resolve' issue ??                            --              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
