   The semi colon  (;) in your description just means run the command   
   before ; then run command after ;.   
      
   I would have forgone the ; and just put the second command on the next   
   line just to make it more straight forward reading.   
      
   Also makes is easier to follow when I have to use  bash -x some_script   
   to debug what is happening.

   The time taken to test results from each command and print   
   what failed is well spent if/when something fails at a later   
   point in time.
