   In the meantime . . . I did some searching on the subject and came up with   
   "RescueZilla" which appears to do what I want - a complete image of the   
   harddrive with the ability to restore it is necessary.   
      
   I may have answered my own question . . .   
   I haven't tried it yet so any comments would be welcome.
