   Oh by far install 98 if its not too inconvinient.   
   I have 2 other computers,one with XP and one with 98,and this one with 95   
   still works great for the internet,and that way I don't need to worry about   
   exposing my newer machines to virus and experimental software ect.   
   It wouldn't hurt to try the patch.   
   You might want to check control panel/system/resources to see if the port   
   is enabled (its often disabled from bios).   
   If not,you will need to reenable it from BIOS,and also make sure you have a   
   spare IRQ for it.   
   If so,you should be good to give it a try.   
   BTW,you can check to see if you already have the supplement installed by   
   checking add/remove programs,where it will be listed as 'USB supplement to   
   OSR2' if its patched.
