   Dave:  The startup info IS in system conguration, under the general tab.   
      
   Ah ha, I found it.  It is under the "advanced" tab of the system config.box.   
   Click "advanced" and make sure that"disable fast shutdown" is checked.   
      
   In 98SE the path is.   
      
   Accessories   
   System tools   
   system info   
   tools   
   system configuration   
   generaltab,advanced   
   check the "disable fast shutdown" box   MH
