   I thought I had done the things you suggest, but I will retrace all my steps   
   once more, using the online guide which you linked me to.   
      
   It is mystifying that I can't just wipe a disc totally clean. This   
   "compressed volume and disc cache utility" seems to be a Dracula. No matter   
   how many times I drive a stake through its heart, it keeps coming back.
