Heh heh, I tried MANY stock drivers, and I did a fairly exhaustive search
for some replacement drivers, but no luck. The SVGA driver works, but still
doesn;t allow more than 16 colors. Perhaps it is a limitation of the LCD
(although I set THAT to SVGA as well, and still couldnt break 16). I also
considered that it may be a limitation of the small amount of RAM; IIRC there
is 512k assigned to video, which ought to be enough for 256 colors, but perhaps
I am not correct... doesn't really matter, all the software I wanted can be
booted up, that was the main goal. I had been able to rebulid the battery with
C-cell alkalaines, but the thing is such a power pig that they were drained
   (and
HOT) in about 40 minutes...had hoped to get 3 hours out of 8 C-cells, looks
   like
I'll have to try with a different system.
    Thanks again, over & out.
