   Until about a week ago, I had a perfectly working P2P network. Now I am   
   having problems with accessing shares from one of my laptops. The most   
   significant thing I can think of that's changed is that I renewed my   
   subscription to Norton Antivirus 2005. But I can't see how that should   
   affect anything since I had no problem earlier with it.   
      
   The pertinent info:   
      
   -2 laptops running XP Pro   
   -Desktop running XP Home   
   -all on the same workgroup; all computer names unique   
   -Laptops connect wirelessly and Desktop by Ethernet cable to Netgear   
   router to network and internet; all have operating internet connection   
   -Laptop1 can see only 2 Desktop shares (out of many) in Network Places   
   and one gives the "Sharename not accessible...Network name cannot be   
   found"  message when I try to access; can see and access all shares on   
   Laptop2   
   -Laptop2 can see and access all Desktop and Laptop1 shares in Network Places   
   -Desktop can see both laptop shares in Network Places   
   -Laptops can ping themselves, each other and a remote site (yahoo.com);   
   neither can ping the Desktop (Request timed out)   
   -Desktop can ping itself; cannot ping laptops or remote site   
   -Router sets addresses dynamically, but I have set it to reserve   
   addresses for each computer   
   -Laptop1/2 have TCP/IP settings set identically ("Disable NETBIOS over   
   TCP/IP") and Windows Firewall setting are same   
   -Desktop has "Disable NetBIOS..." set   
   -Enabled NetBIOS.. on Laptop1 and Desktop; did not help   
   -IPX protocol was removed from Laptop1 and Desktop; did not help   
   -when connecting to router,and checking "Attached Devices", occasionally   
   all/some computers have "Unknown Name" associated with IP and MAC addresses   
      
   I have searched the internet for as much info as I can find to try to   
   correct this to no avail.   
      
   Can someone please help?
