   Well it prompts you to make a restore DVD in the setup, which I did.   
   Out of curiosity I tried booting with it and it did nothing, DVD drive is   
   first in boot order, so I don't know how much good it would do in a OS   
   failure situation.   
   But I agree, it is pretty half assed not to have a ready made system   
   restore disk included in the purchase.   
   Got this here http://tinyurl.com/yywsxz, for under $600 a DVD writer, 1 gig   
   of ram, 80gb hd sounded pretty good, and it is a nice little computer   
   [actually a lot bigger and heavier than I thought, my flatned scanner is   
   smaller than this] ... Now I have to figure out how to get the wireless   
   networking functional.
