   In effect, you just re-install Windows over the previous installation.  You   
   lose no data, none of your software installations are affected.  the only   
   loss is all "updates" to Windows since the original installation.  And, this   
   far from the release of SP2, it's getting to be a lengthy process.  I'm   
   hoping SP3 will release fairly soon.
