As Sinner mentioned, you can't do that, but you could create an image
   backup of your system.

This is not the same as the installation CD, but could be used to
restore the system the way it was when the image was made.

This would normally destroy anything done since the image was made, so
you should have a good working backup system for any data files.

Windows XP is trickier to do this sort of image backup with since it
is rather paranoid about system changes. You might have to call
   Microsoft to reactivate your system.

I have used Norton Ghost in the past to do system backups. This was
prior to windows XP thought. The version of Ghost that I have cannot
save images to NTFS partitions, which means I can't use it for my
systems. The drives are too large for FAT32, which is what my version
   needs to write to.

   Ghost can be ordered at
   http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pc
   d=br&pvid=ghost10

There are other programs that can do this, but I have not used them
myself. So I can't tell you how well they work.

This site has information on what can trigger activation.
   http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.uk/ProductActivation.htm

Note that any site that talks about backing up a file with activation
information is out of date in this respect. One of the updates
Microsoft did disabled that possibility quite some time ago.

I hope that this helps. 8-)
