|    Can't Get Rid of Welcome Screen    |
|    07 Apr 07 01:34:07    |
From: spburrows@cox.net              I am running Windows XP Professional, SP2, with all the current updates       installed. I do not want the welcome screen, as I am the only user on my       computer. However, I do not want to auto logon and bypass typing in the       account and username.              I know about the Users applet in control panel and the check boxes for       "changing the way users logon or off". When I uncheck the options for "Fast       User Switching" and "Use the Welcome Screen" and click the apply button.       When I log off my account and restart, I still have the welcome screen. If       I uncheck the Welcome screen option and hit apply, and reopen the dialog to       change the user login, the box is checked. It seems that nothing that I do       can get me back to the "classic" windows xp login.              Does anyone have any suggestions (including registry edits) for how to fix       this?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
