From: yadayada@blah.blah              If you have a copy of the original OS CD . . . Windows 98/ME? Then when       installing XP it will ask you for the location of the "qualifying product" .       . . so you just insert the CD it reads it and then you keep on your merry       way with the XP installation. BTW- you could "borrow" a full version of XP       from a friend and use your product key, it should work -OR- you could       "borrow" a friend's copy of Windows on CD if you don't have one as a       qualifying product . . .              Of course, you could start with the old drive as your secondary drive and       then when you go to install XP make sure you select the "C" drive your new       primary master drive for the NTFS format and installation . . . that way you       could point to the secondary drive (D?) for a "previous installation" . . .       BTW - if you choose this route make sure you hit a key to start from the CD       when you begin the install or else the machine may boot to the secondary       drive and then you'll just have to reboot and watch to hit the key to boot       from the CD.              --       Chuck              "hwohl" |
