   If it's XP Professional, you should be able to "take ownership" as admin,   
   just like in 2K, then change the owner to the account of your niece.   
   If you don't see the security tab, you have to go through folder options and   
   uncheck "simple sharing" or something like that.   
   If you still have no security tab, it's most probably XP home and you have   
   to start up in safe mode (f8) and logon as administrator to see that one.
