windows updates do not install

   I have automatic updates enabled and the following relates to :   
      
   Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service padk 1   
      
   The message reads - could not be installed.    Any suggestions on how   
   to overcome this problem?     Would like to get away from the small   
   yellow indicator on the task bar.
