   Relic has provided a link to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article that   
   shows you how to change the key on a Volume Licensed machine.   
      
   If the new key that you now posses is not *also* a Volume License key I   
   doubt that the KB article's instructions will help.   
      
   I suspect that the new key you now are trying to use is *not* a Volume   
   License key. In that case you will probably have to reinstall and use   
   the key that goes with the version of XP you are installing.
