   I just started to read this group.   
      
   I have been using  PC for years, but have never   
   done more for backup other than to copy critical   
   data files to an external device from time to   
   time. These days I use flash drives.   
      
   If I add an external hard drive to my XP laptop,   
   can I achieve absolute protection in case the   
   native drive crashes?   
      
   Please point me to solutions, and excuse if this   
   has been covered before.
