   I've never heard of this happening before.   
      
   Are you sure it's INSTALLING itself to G:, or merely downloading itself   
   there? There's even the possibility that it's using G: for the temp files   
   while actually installing them to C:

   I'd recommend turning off any virus protection while installing SP3. Most   
   of the installation problems I've heard of (which doesn't include your   
   problem) have been caused by the anti-virus software interfering with SP3's   
   installaion.   
      
   This is a rare problem, but an easily avoided one.
