   Sounds like a hardware fault. I would suspect memory first.   
   Using another PC, make yourself a memtest boot cd using a CD burner   
   and the bootable ISO image here:   
   http://www.memtest.org/   
   Boot the PC with that to disc to check the memory (you may need   
   to enter the BIOS to make it boot from CD first.)
