   Do you have another keyboard avaiable? If so, swap keyboards and see what   
   happens. If the other keyboard works, the one giving you problems is broken;   
   toss it. If the other keyboard suffers similar issues... I don't know.   
   Possible causes include:   
   - driver weirdness   
   - software weirdness   
   - malware   
   - ???
