I have been there. Everyone I met       seemed wonderful.              But back to your problem; did you purchase a computer from a retail       outlet? How long have you had it? Is it within the warranty period,       or has the warranty expired?              What exactly, besides the shoddily operating mouse, have been your       difficulties with WinXP.              Were you civil and considerate on the telephone (and in any emails       that you may have volleyed off)? Or were you agitated and surly?              Did Mr. Mullen behave badly first -- without provocation?              At any rate, if your hardware is new, you should be able to get it       exchanged for free under the warranty. (If you live in Canada, I       don't know if the rules are the same as they are here in the United       States. But I suspect you'll fare even better in this regard than in       the U.S., notwithstanding our excellent warranty rights.)              There is no way of knowing what your specific situation is because you       are (perhaps justifiably) upset. Describe the actual problems you are       experiencing with the computer (one-by-one) in individual newsgroup       posts and you'll probably have very good luck getting wonderful help       from the folks who frequent this group, and related groups.              By the way, the comment (made by 'relic') that you should post your       rant to comp.os.linux.advocacy was quite probably made tongue-in-cheek       (although I apologize to 'relic' for misinterpreting, if the actual       intent of the post was for you to leave this group and post elsewhere).              On the flip side . . . have you considered giving Linux a whirl? I       run WinXP and SUSE 10 Linux in a dual-boot situation on my computer.       I love both WinXP and SUSE 10 Linux. You'll have just as many       difficulties with SUSE 10 Linux as you ever dreamed of having with       WinXP (although the difficulties in WinXP and SUSE 10 Linux are quite       unrelated to each other), but if you like to tinker, you'll have       excellent fun.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
