From: on@request.com              DOS startup disk created by Windows XP does not include Himem.sys as was the       case for Windows 98 and Windows Me. (For Windows ME, the statrup diskette       has Himem.sys, but it was not used in Config.sys.) If I add Himem.sys to       Windows XP DOS startup diskette and add a line " device=himem.sys", I get a       warning "XMS driver is already installed". Running "Mem.com /debug" shows       that indeed XMS is installed and 256MB are available for programs.       From these observations, I am wondering Himem.sys is not need for       1. Newer computers, and/or       2. Startup diskette created by Windows XP.              Just curious.       M.K.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
