From: roger@burgess.nildram.co.uk              I have seen a lot of reports about the SIS 7100 chipset causing       problems in windows XP. Unknown Device keeps popping up when a USB       device is plugged in, my fix (the 1 that worked for me) open control       panel got to system open hardware then goto device manager and look at       the properties of the device Generic Composite USB Hub (or the top       level device) under the details tab you will see a number like       PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_7002&SUBSYS_80871043&REV_00\3&61AAA01&0&1A (mine)       yours will be different       use Regedit and search for this string and delete it.       uninstall the usb device . Scan for hardware changes and the USB       device will re-installl and all your unknown devices will be reconized              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
