|    Serious boot problem - PLEASE help    |

From: Dave@WestLabs.COM              Gentlemen,                            This is a serious problem that no one seems to have an answer for.                            I have spent one nine hour session with Microsoft support on the phone!                            I have spent two one hour sessions with Microsoft Research. I have another       one scheduled.                            When I boot my computer, the following occurs about half the time.                            There are actually about four different scenarios.                            The desktop comes up with all the icons. I then get an error that Windows       Explorer has encountered a problem and has to shut down. I click on either       "send" or "do not send" a report. The icons then all disappear and come       back. XP continues to load the bottom right tool bar items. Sometimes they       are not all there. One of these items (Macro Express) is quite necessary       for my day to day operations. SOMETIMES Macro Express operates anyway with       no icon. SOMETIMES the Icon even comes back!                            Once in a while I will get the same kind of error for Dr Watson. Sometimes       the computer just hangs up after the DR Watson error.                            With Microsoft's help I have done the following.                            Removed all running processes.                            Removed all hardware drivers not absolutely necessary to run the computer.                             Set up a new account from scratch.                            The problem persists.                            I have twice passed Bit Defender (at Microsoft instruction) with no problems       found. I have run Norton Virus scan multiple times with no problems found.                            I am hoping someone's experience might trump the power of Microsoft       Research, and they might be able to help me.                            I run three businesses off my computer and am deathly afraid of even an XP       "Safe Repair". It would probably take me a month of full time work to       recover from a "Clean XP Reinstall". In the meantime I would go bankrupt,       and probably incur a bunch of lawsuits.                            Thanx, Dave West              WWW.WestLabs.COM              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
